Team Blood Glucose to take part in Grand Tour bike ride from Brussels to Barcelona

TeamBG little logo smallRiders with Type 1 Diabetes from all over the world will be taking part in the ride of a lifetime! Team Blood Glucose (Team BG) announced it will be entering a squad of riders, all with Type 1 Diabetes, in the 2,100km the GSMA mHealth Grand Tour cycle ride from Brussels to Barcelona, to arrive just in time for the start of the 49th Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD).

Raising awareness and demonstrating that amateur riders with diabetes can take take part in any sporting challenge, the squad is made up of riders representing the Diabetes Online Community (#doc). “We have riders from all over the world sharing a common goal, to demonstrate that anyone living with the chronic, life long condition that is diabetes can achieve their sporting and exercise goals” said Paul Buchanan, TeamBG Founder & CEO.

TeamBG in partnership with the GSMA and the International Diabetes Federation European Region (IDF Europe) will help showcase the latest in mHealth technologies, therapies and solutions as well as raise awareness of diabetes.

World wide there are 371 million people with diabetes, some 55 million living with diabetes in Europe alone. TeamBG aims to connect, support and educate all people living with diabetes on the benefits of sports and exercise as a tool for the self-management of this chronic, life long condition. As well as playing a significant role in the therapy of Type 1
Diabetes, sports and exercise can help make the difference between a ‘life style’ management of Type 2 diabetes and a ‘medical management’ of Type 2 Diabetes.
