Spain: calling on citizens to support policies promoting healthy lifestyles

Spain2The Spanish Diabetes Federation (FEDE) reached out to fellow citizens as part of their World Diabetes Day campaign, asking people to support their online petition to the Spanish Minister of Health asking for the implementation of policies promoting healthy lifestyles for diabetes prevention and management.

From 10 to 14 November, the Federation also carried out a campaign with the Spanish Society of Community Pharmacies (SEFAC) to encourage people to take the Findrisk test in more than 100 pharmacies across the country.

On 11 November, FEDE also joined the DiabetesON day, the first event in Spain to welcome diabetes advocates vocal on social media and bloggers. The Federation was also involved in the nation-wide campaign “Es Diabetes, tómatela en serio” (Take diabetes seriously), which reminded people with diabetes and those at risk that diabetes is a condition you live with 24/7, and that it is always important to play an active part in managing their own condition to make sure they can live a healthy life.
