Norway: tools and tips for healthy eating

NorwayIn line with the global campaign, activities around World Diabetes Day in Norway focused on healthy diets to reduce the burden of diabetes.

The Norwegian Diabetes association kicked off this year’s celebration with the launch of a new website providing with information, advice and recipes to adopt a healthy diet. The launch was supported by an online ad campaign, as well as press coverage. To visit the online platform, click here.

Throughout the country, the association also took over public spaces to distribute educational leaflets and recipe cards to raise awareness of diabetes and healthy lifestyles.

Focus on alcohol consumption

The Norwegian Diabetes Association also partnered this year with Actis, the Policy Network on Alcohol and Drugs, to lead a campaign to urge policy makers to change the legislation on alchohol labelling, which currently does not oblige alcohol producers in Norway to mention the nutritional content of their products. With the moto «I want to know what’s in the bottle», the campaign was launch coinciding with World Diabetes Day, and will spread throughout the coming months.

Norway1On 11 November, the Norwegian Diabetes Association also called on national television celebrity Thomas Seltzer to host a talk show about diabetes, its causes and the need for greater awareness targeting a younger audience (from 20+ to 40 years). The show will be broadcasted end of November.
