Croatia: educating citizens about diabetes in public transport

TramsFor a second year in a row, the Croatian Diabetes Association marked World Diabetes Day with the launch of a 6-month, nation-wide campaign on the symptoms and risk factors of diabetes displayed in public transport vehicles including buses and trams in the biggest cities across the country, including the capital Zagreb.

A poster campaign informing the public about the symptoms and risk factors of diabetes was also launched in pharmacies throughout the country.

On and around 14 November, the association also coordinated a series of activities focusing on education and prevention through interviews on television and radio stations, online campaigns and hosting roundtable events for the general public, people with diabetes and healthcare professionals.

WDD 2014 was also an important time for the Croatian Diabetes Association, as it celebrated its 60th anniversary.
