Dr Barbara Ludwig and Ms Valentyna Ocheretenko receive 2015 IDF Europe Prizes in Diabetes

Dr Barbara Ludwig and Ms Valentyna Ocheretenko receive the 2015 IDF Europe Prizes in Diabetes at an award ceremony in The European Parliament in Strasbourg on 27 October.

2015 Prize winners

Ms Valentyna Ocheretenko was presented with the 2015 IDF Europe Prize in Diabetes for Long-Standing Achievement in recognition of her significant contribution to the improvement of the lives of people with diabetes and those at risk in Ukraine and globally.

Dr Barbara Ludwig was presented with the 2015 IDF Europe Prize in Diabetes for Young Researcher in recognition of her outstanding work in the field of transplantation of pancreatic islet cells.

João Nabais, President of IDF Europe, was present at the award ceremony and thanked both prize winners for their remarkable contributions to the diabetes world and their tremendous work to improve the lives of people with diabetes. Professor Nabais also thanked the other prize applicants: “We would like to acknowledge each one of the exceptional people that applied for the prize, and thank them for their unwavering efforts to improve the lives of people with diabetes by promoting diabetes care, prevention and a cure.”

Both winners were congratulated for their valuable contribution by the co-hosts of the ID Europe World Diabetes Day events in the European Parliament in Strasbourg, MEP Therese Comodini Cachia and MEP Nicola Caputo.
