IDF Europe Youth advocates come together for a week of leadership training

YLCThis year, the 5th consecutive edition of the IDF Europe Youth Leadership Camp was organized at the national sports centre Papendal in thNetherlands. IDF Europe proudly collaborated with the Bas van der Goor Foundation for this year’s edition of the camp, and the BvdG foundation’s experience of organizing activities for people with diabetes contributed to an excellent and well-organized camp.

On 13-19 July, 23 highly motivateyouth advocates fro2countries across Europe met to share their experiences and to learn about a wide rangof topics, including advocacy and political campaigninfor diabetes. The interactive sessions dealt with everything from effective communication and development of project proposals to working with the healthcare industry. The Youth Camp serves as a great opportunittmeaningfully involvyoung people in IDF Europe’s work and to integrate their perspectivas a cross-cutting dimensioof all our activities and advocacy work.

The programme durinthe camp also included several physical activity sessions. The mornings included runninor cycling, while the afternoons were reserved for different sports activities, like bubble football, a boot camp session and a volleyball training session with Olympic gold medallist Bas van der Goor. The camp participants had a chance to trout different sports and learn more about diabetes self-management during sports.

The youth advocates showedkeen interest in IDF Europe’s activities and strong willingness to work to improve the lives of people with diabetes. IDF Europe will continue to support them, and facilitate exchanges betweethyouth advocates, IDF Europe member associations and other stakeholders in order to aid the development of new pan-European initiatives aimed at young people living with diabetes.
