Making fundamental rights a reality for everyone

FRAThe European Union is based on the values of human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of people living with diabetes. To ensure these rights are protected, the EU can count on the help of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).

The FRA is one of the European Union’s decentralised agencies. Through the collection and analysis of data in the EU and awareness campaigngs, the FRA assists EU institutions and EU Member States in understanding and tackling challenges to safeguard the fundamental rights of everyone in the EU. Working in partnership with the EU institutions, its Member States and other organisations at the international, European and national levels, the FRA plays an important role in helping to make fundamental rights a reality for everyone living in the EU.

Agencies such as the FRA are essential bodies to protect the fundamental rights of people with diabetes such as access to quality treatment, but also to make sure they are protected against any form of discrimination.

To assist the organisation in its work, the FRA can count on an Advisory Panel. The panel consists of nine members, who are appointed in their own independent capacity and under no circumstances represent any specific organisation. This being said, the FRA Advisory Panel is composed of experts coming from very diverse backgrounds, from human rights to trade unions and including health.

The composition of the Advisory Panel is gender balanced and reflects a diverse selection of civil society organisations and nationalities. For more information about the panel, click here.

More information about the FRA work is also available here.
